Sea trials on JoRes Ro-Ro ferry!

Sea Trials

If we validate ship scale CFD based only on a tanker case, would we be confident to use the same setup for a twin screw vessel too? Probably not! The more test cases we have the better! That is why JoRes validation “fleet” also includes a Ro-Ro ferry. We have recently performed high-fidelity sea trials measuring propeller torque and thrust on both shafts. Hull and propeller roughness measurements were completed a day before the trials in a dry dock. Now it is time to analyse the results and prepare 3D geometry for CFD validation.
